What an incredible honor for the Henrietta ISD Board of Trustees!
This past weekend, our Henrietta ISD School Board attended the TASA/TASB txEDCON Conference, where they received the prestigious recognition of being named one of the top 12 school boards in the great state of Texas by the Texas Association of School Boards! Our dedicated Board President, Brad Yurcho, proudly accepted this honor on stage Friday evening on behalf of our entire Board of Trustees.
What an incredible moment to be recognized alongside outstanding school districts from across Texas, a state that serves more than 5 million public school students!
We were also incredibly proud to have Betty Ellsworth represent Region 9 at the 2026 TASB Delegate Assembly, with Penny Riordan serving as the alternate representative! This important event gives school board members from across Texas the opportunity to have a voice in the governance and direction of the Texas Association of School Boards. Betty had the responsibility of casting a vote as a Region 9 representative, helping ensure that the voices of our area school districts are heard at the state level. What an honor and responsibility! We are so thankful for Betty and Penny's willingness to take on these additional leadership roles and represent not only Henrietta ISD but school districts throughout our region. Their involvement is another example of the dedication and commitment our trustees have to strengthening public education beyond the walls of our own district!
Throughout the weekend, we were reminded several times that serving in leadership is not always easy. Leadership requires courage, commitment, integrity, and the willingness to make difficult decisions. Our Board of Trustees demonstrates these qualities time and time again. These individuals willingly give their time, talents, and expertise to serve our students, staff, and community, often without recognition for all that they do behind the scenes.
As elected officials, our board members take their responsibilities very seriously. They are thoughtful, dedicated, and solution-oriented leaders who are willing to address challenges head-on rather than shy away from difficult decisions. They understand that doing what is best for students sometimes requires making tough choices, asking hard questions, and working through complicated situations.
What many people may not realize is the tremendous amount of information, responsibility, and decision-making that comes with serving on a school board. Our trustees are entrusted with information and challenges that cannot always be shared publicly, yet they continue to lead with professionalism, integrity, and a deep commitment to the community they represent. They do this because they genuinely care about Henrietta ISD and want to ensure our district continues moving forward!
Our board members also dedicate countless hours to training, professional learning, and understanding the responsibilities and expectations of effective school governance. They recognize the importance of their role and continually work to strengthen their leadership so they can better serve our district.
At Henrietta ISD, our mission is:
"Cultivating a culture of excellence through engaging experiences that empower learners for life."
Our Board of Trustees doesn't just support this mission. They help make it possible through their leadership, vision, and commitment to doing what is best for ALL students!
This recognition is especially meaningful because it honors school board members "whose dedication and ethical service have made a positive impact on the school children of Texas." What a wonderful description of the individuals who serve Henrietta ISD!
Congratulations to our Henrietta ISD Board of Trustees! You are so deserving of this recognition, and our district is better because of your leadership, dedication, and heart for our kids!
